THE HANOI TIMES — A national exhibition showcasing Vietnam’s socioeconomic achievements over the past 80 years will be held from August 28 to September 5 at the National Exhibition and Fair Center in Dong Anh District, Hanoi, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of National Day.
At a cabinet meeting on June 23, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the significance of this grand event that will highlight Vietnam’s eight-decade journey of building, safeguarding, and developing the nation.

The exhibition will house trade fairs, culinary and tourism showcases, handicraft stalls, bilateral exchanges, conferences, and cultural performances.
The prime minister emphasized that the exhibition must vividly depict the nation’s 80-year development journey, instill national pride, and inspire confidence in a prosperous and modern future.
He suggested the theme “The 80-Year Journey of Independence, Freedom, and Happiness” and urged that the exhibition resonate with both domestic and international audiences, including the youth.
On June 21, the Hanoi People’s Committee issued Decision No. 3104/QD-UBND, approving the outline of an exhibition titled "Hanoi's Socio-economic Achievements in Celebration of the 80th Anniversary of National Day."

The exhibition will be organized into three thematic spaces, with Exhibition Space 1 recreating the historical context of Hanoi before the August Revolution and throughout key resistance movements. Some milestones include the founding of the Hanoi Party Committee in 1930; the August Revolution and the Declaration of Independence in 1945; the 60-day and 60-night resistance in 1946; and the Liberation of the Capital on October 10, 1954.
Exhibition Space 2 will spotlight Hanoi’s post-war recovery, national reunification, and the past 40 years of Doi Moi (renewal), showcasing achievements in party building, economic growth, cultural development, urban and rural transformation, defense, and diplomacy. This section will incorporate multimedia elements, including images, models, documentaries, culinary experiences, and interactive technologies.
Exhibition Space 3 will present Hanoi’s vision for future development as a "cultured, civilized, modern" capital with global connectivity. The capital's 2021–2030 planning vision, with a 2050 outlook, will be unveiled under the motto "New Vision — Global Mindset — Capital Thinking — Hanoi Action," opening new opportunities and values for growth in the new era.
